New Residential Tower Planned for Courthouse

apartment-422231_1280Living in an urban village such as Arlington includes keeping neighborhoods updated in terms of architecture, home, work and lifestyle options. This includes redevelopment of buildings and sites within an area to allow for future growth and to meet the needs and preferences of current residents. The Orange Line is slated to get a new residential based tower in the Courthouse neighborhood. The new building is in the first stages of planning, which included a presentation of the new development to residents of the Odyssey building, a condo tower next door to where the new one is planned. Currently the Bush Construction building at 2000 Clarendon Blvd. houses office suites. If the plan goes through, there will be much more offered at this location and adding to the Courthouse Redevelopment plan overall.

The new residential tower is expected to have 14 floors of condos and/ or apartments, as well as ground level retail space. To account for all the new residents coming in, there will 5 levels of underground storage and parking. The renderings of the tower which were shared at the meeting, show a rooftop terrace and lounge, as well as an outdoor pool and patio on the second floor.  Some units included their own patio as well.

The developer still needs to submit formal plans with Arlington County and no date as yet has been announced for when the development will begin. This new residential tower falls well into place with the ongoing Envision Courthouse Square plan to revitalize the civic district of Arlington. Working to make the area a popular destination and to encourage more urban residents, Envision Courthouse has been in the planning stages for the last year or so. Seeing Developers ready to update the neighborhood is a step forward to providing new options to those living and working along the Orange line.
