Concert of Valor – November 11

by Dan Lesniak

DogTagsHave you made plans to attend the Concert of Valor this evening? Tonight our military veterans and service personnel will be honored with a special concert at 7 p.m. on the Mall in DC. The Concert of Valor will feature music greats Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Black Keys, Carrie Underwood, Eminen, Dave Grohl, Rihanna and more.

This free, three-hour Veterans Day concert is expected to be a mix of patriotic tunes and the artists’ biggest hits. A crowd of 800,000 is expected to attend. For information on viewing areas and entry points, click here.

Although the temperatures are expected to be in the 50s – 60s, you’ll want to bring two blankets–one to sit on and one to keep yourself warm. Also bring jackets, hats, gloves and a few hand warmers. No chairs will be allowed in the concert area. Only members of the military will have reserved seating.

The Mall is open now, and you’ll want to go early as there will be waits at security checkpoints. Do bring food and warm beverages for the long wait. Don’t expect to have service on your mobile devices as networks will be strained by the crowds.

For information on public transportation for the concert visit wmata.com/valor. For updates on the concert, text VALOR2014 to 888777. Visit the Concert of Valor website for answers to frequently asked questions and a downloadable map.

If you can’t attend the concert, it will be streamed live at ConcertforValor.com and broadcast on HBO and iHeartRadio.
