Arlington is the Place to be this 4th of July

by Dan Lesniak

FireworksThe 4th of July is just around the corner, and anyone who enjoys Orange Line Living knows this is a wonderful place to be when celebrating America’s birthday. With the nation’s capital right across the Potomac, we have amazing options to choose from for viewing one of the most spectacular displays in the country, the National Fireworks.

Close to the Rosslyn Metro station, you can have a great afternoon and viewing location at Gateway Park. The park is a short walk from the Metro station and offers an intimate area with beautiful garden beds and meandering walk ways. There is also the Iwo Jima Memorial close by the Rosslyn Metro, providing another great viewing point for the fireworks. As part of the Memorial Parkway along the river, the Iwo Jima Memorial makes for a fitting place to celebrate all that is American.

For a unique view of the fireworks, check out Key Bridge itself as a viewing point. Also close to Rosslyn, you can take a cab or walk to the bridge if you are up for a stroll. There is no seating available for viewing the fireworks, but to see them from a bridge across the river provides a viewing site like no other. Both Arlington and Georgetown will be lit up to either side of you as you watch the incredible show.

Perhaps the most popular celebration in Arlington to attend for the 4th of July is at Long Bridge Park. Located at the north end of Crystal City off the Blue Line, the park has a full day of family fun waiting for you. There will be plenty of activities for the kids such as moon bounces and face painting. Other fun includes a kickball tournament, an obstacle course, hula hoop contest and line dancing. A variety of food vendors will be on hand from pizza to Vietnamese food, and shaved ices for the whole family. There will also be live music to set the stage for a great picnic in the park. The music line up this year includes the likes of Andrea Pais, The Cherry People and White Ford Bronco.

No matter your plans for the 4th of July, I hope you have a safe and fun holiday celebration and find that just right spot to view the national fireworks. Myself, and the Orange Line Living team, are here to provide you with our unique and specialized services so you can turn your dreams into reality.
