330px-Ballston_pedestrian_bridgeThe time of year is fast approaching once more for the annual Taste of Arlington in Ballston. The premier Arlington food festival will be held on May 18, 2014. The festival is not only a way to showcase Arlington food fare and restaurants, but also a fundraiser to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Hosted by the Ballston Business Improvement District, the Taste of Arlington will bring area restaurants together in one place for Orange Line Livingresidents and visitors to get their food tasting fix.

The Taste will be held along part of N. Stuart Street and Wilson Blvd. There will be approximately 50 food booths representing area restaurants such as Big Buns, Circa, Kapnos, Pete’s Apizza, Red Rocks, Willow, World of Beer, and many more. The restaurants will compete to win the best appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Family fun is available throughout the festival, with two live music stages, a rock climbing wall, three golf putting holes, face painting, and kid-oriented entertainment with puppet and magic shows and carnival games.

There will, of course, be the beer and wine garden for adults 21 and over. The area has been expanded this year with more seating and room for dancing. Within the beer and wine garden, festival goers will also be able to enjoy both local and national varieties of drink, including breweries such as local favorite Port City and popular breweries such as Flying Dog and Starr Hill. The wine will be provided by Barefoot Wine &Bubbly.

While the music playing (featuring popular local bands) will be free, the food and drink alas is not. There are several options available for the Taste of Arlington Food festival tickets. You can purchase ticketsin advance; 10 sampler tickets for $30.00 before May 1. After the May 1, the price will go up to 10 for $35.00. For the VIP champagne tenwine-pouring-1387712430KIEt, you can  purchase tickets for $100 before May 1 and $110 after that date. The VIP tickets give you unlimited tastings of beer, wine, and champagne, as well as hors d’oeuvres, while being up close for the food judging and celebrity guests in attendance, including Chef Mike Isabella.

The Taste of Arlington food festival will begin on May 18th with a 5k run at 10:00 am, open to all runners, and the go until 5:00 pm. You can get a taste of living in Arlington with a new home too.
